Foss4G 2008 tutorial
At the FOSS4G 2008 conference in South Africa we presented a workshop, that was to learn people how to use the geomajas basics. It contained 5 excercises, of which 3 will be explained here. The reason why we left the last 2 out, is because they require a specific postgis database setup (filled with osm sample data). First of all, you will require the powerpoint presentation, to guide you through the process. Secondly you need to know that this presentation was given using the Eclipse environment. You don't neccesarily need Eclipse, but some way of executing Ant scripts would be nice. Why Ant? Because that's the way the excercises were set up. We basically created 5 geomajas applications that each were lacking certain pieces. In the excercises you were meant to fill in these gaps, and thus build small applications. The Ant scripts besically overwrote certain excercises with the solution, and then prepared the next excercise. You can now download these exercises here. They contains the first 3 excercises, as geomajas applications. Next to that, you will find a workshop application, containing these excercises again, and their solutions. So instead of using the Ant scripts to copy the solutions, you could do it manually. Anyway, make sure that the applications are copied into you local geomajas copy in the directory "applications". Good luck!
