Geomajas is a Java/JavaScript-based web mapping framework. Being Java on the server side, Geomajas requires you to at least install a Java runtime and an application server or servlet engine of your choice. If you use Tomcat as a servlet engine, you will need one or more of the following downloads:

• JDK/JRE 1.5 or higher: the latest stable version can be found here http://java.sun.com/javase/downloads/index.jsp. 
  Choose the JDK if you plan to do some development in the future.
• Tomcat 5.5 or higher : the latest stable version can be found here http://tomcat.apache.org/
• Geomajas war : the latest stable version can be found here 

If you intend to use a spatial database as your data source, we advise the use of PostgresSQL/PostGis (although Oracle and MySQL are also supported)The latest stable version of PostGreSQL can be downloaded from http://www.postgresql.org/download/.

The latest stable version of PostGIS can be downloaded from http://postgis.refractions.net/download/
